San Francisco Bay Area Vision Project

The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District), the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) are each engaged in ongoing efforts to promote a more compact development pattern that enhances existing communities, provides increased housing and transportation options, and protects open spaces and agricultural lands. The Joint Policy Committee was formed in 2003 to assist in coordinating the regional planning work of each of these agencies.

The Joint Policy Committee (JPC) coordinates the regional planning efforts of ABAG, BAAQMD, BCDC, and MTC.

ABAG is the regional planning agency for the nine counties and 101 cities and towns of the San Francisco Bay region. ABAG works with its local government members to help solve problems in areas such as land use, housing, environmental quality, and economic development. Its mission is to strengthen cooperation and coordination among local governments and to provide innovative and cost effective solutions to local government issues.
