Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010Brentwood voters rejected Measure F on Tuesday, June 8th, an initiative which would have increased the city’s growth boundary by 740 acres to allow 1300 new homes to be built on open land, some of which is used for farming.
Measures like these will increasingly be the benchmark for how serious policy makers are about containing growth within city limits and developing strategically around transit, the purported smart growth goals soon-to-be mandated by SB 375.

Urban Land Institute backs sprawl-limiting law
Friday, June 4th, 2010The Urban Land Institute, which has an office in San Francisco and elsewhere in the state, says that SB375 could improve the ecology and boost the economies of the state’s urban regions.
The group’s support of the legislation contributes to the bill’s legitimacy as preliminary regional targets to cut carbon dioxide from cars and trucks are due at the end of the month, but also as some are calling for the delay of a broader state climate change bill until the economy improves.
