A Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit station design workshop was held in Petaluma for community members to provide input on what the stations should look like. Community input will be used to come up with preliminary drawings for the stations, which will be presented in a few months.

SMART will be holding station design workshops in communities with planned stations between February 8 and 19, 2010.
Due to decreased sales tax projections and the tightening of the bond market, the SMART board approved a new plan that allows the southern portion of the line to still open in 2014, but delays completion of the northern end up to Cloverdale until 2016.

A workshop was held in San Rafael on January 13, 2010 to get public comment on the design of the interior of the trains for the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) passenger rail service, which is expect to begin in the year 2014. The vehicle specifications are expected to be completed by March 2010.
