Santa Clara County will see its first express light rail service on Monday from South San Jose to downtown. This is the first of several projects the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is pursuing to speed up light rail service, and additional express service along most of the light rail system is expected to roll out over the next several years.

Developers seek maximum height in housing project on West San Carlos

Mercury News discusses the status of the Ohlone Mixed Use Project, a residential project with ground floor retail in the Midtown area of San Jose, between Diridon and Race Street light rail stops and directly adjacent to a possible future light rail station. Developers are moving forward with a proposal for three 14-story buildings, which will require amendments to the General Plan and Midtown Specific Plan.

The scale of the project has been controversial, and the proposal has gone from 12 stories, down to 9, and now up to 14 since the original proposal, according to the Mercury News.
