Contra Costa County

Burton Ridge, located northwest of Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, is visible from portions of the City of Walnut Creek and the Town of Moraga, and throughout Burton Valley in Lafayette. This ridgeline is of particular regional importance due to its visual prominence, significant location, and proximity to regional open space. Preservation of Burton Ridge will serve to bolster the trail connection between Las Trampas Regional Wilderness and Briones Regional Park, promote the greenbelt separation of neighboring cities, add to the large open space network within the East Bay Regional Park District, and control development in sensitive riparian habitats. Large open space areas along the ridgeline include public access and scenic trail opportunities.
