Lafayette Ridge

Contra Costa County

Lafayette Ridge, located north of Highway 24 within the City of Lafayette, is an area of visual prominence and special ecological significance in Contra Costa County that provides a vital role in defining the character and quality of life of the Lamorinda community. Lafayette Ridge buffers and distinguishes neighboring communities in the area and provides a continuation of the valuable native grassland and oak woodland habitat found in neighboring Briones Regional Park. In particular, Lafayette Ridge is an important foraging, breeding, nesting and migratory corridor for raptors, deer and other wildlife. Conserving Lafayette Ridge will promote the greenbelt separation of cities, add to the large open space network that belongs to the East Bay Regional Park District, and foster the connection between Briones Regional Park and Las Trampas Regional Wilderness.
