Marin County
Bowman Canyon, located west of Highway 101 and north of the City of Novato, provides a scenic backdrop for city residents and passer byes. Land preservation in this area would provide a continuous landscape of protected open space, connecting Stafford Lake and Mount Burdell Open Space Preserve, which is adjacent to Olompai State Historic Park. The area provides rural agricultural land and contains a major tributary to Novato Creek, which is used by steelhead trout for breeding. The area could provide additional recreational opportunities, particularly through a potential link for the Bay Area Ridge Trail. The area’s proximity to the City of Novato provides an opportunity to contribute to the community’s greenbelt, while providing other conservation values.
