Santa Clara County
The Upper Los Gatos Creek Watershed is an important watershed south of Los Gatos in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The area includes a wide range of natural communities, including extensive stands of late successional redwood forests. Many of the upper slopes are vegetated by unique combinations of chamise and manzanita-dominated maritime chaparral. Los Gatos Creek and its tributaries are lined with forests of white alder, and provide habitat for the California red-legged frog. Resident rainbow trout and numerous raptor species including osprey also reside in the area. Land conservation in this area would protect these watershed lands and species habitat.
